Echo Flask Hydrogen Water: Next Level Hydration?

Posted on March 27, 2025August 22, 2025 by Backcountry Fever

I pre-ordered an Echo Flask water bottle in early January hoping to get this in time for my Aconcagua Expedition.  Unfortunately, that didn’t happen but was just as excited to get it when I returned home.

My wife is always on the lookout for ways to optimize our health and discovered this new product from Echo Water.  Knowing how important hydration is for my kind of activity, she immediately sent me the link.

I had never heard of hydrogen-enriched water before but was very interested in who this company was and what they’ve been working on.

Their company description reads:

“Echo Water is a leading hydrogen therapy company dedicated to making the health benefits of hydrogen water and gas accessible to everyone. With our industry-leading hydrogen water flask, we offer cutting-edge technology that sets the standard for innovation in the wellness space. Loved by celebrities and trusted by wellness enthusiasts worldwide, Echo Water provides the most advanced hydrogen water solutions, unlocking the potential of this powerful therapy for better health, vitality, and longevity. Live Better. Do Better.”

Echo further states how “Studies indicate that hydrogen, as the smallest and lightest molecule, can penetrate cells and may support wellness in ways regular water does not.”

Understanding the importance of a truly hydrated cell that occurs with the help of electrically-charged minerals (aka electrolytes), this research resonates with me.  I’m also intrigued by the idea that hydrogenated water supports natural energy production, boosts your immunity and can sustain cognitive health… all things that concern me as I just turned 56.

That said, it sounds like Echo’s use of technology is taking hydration to the next level!

First Impressions

I’ve been using the Echo Flask for about a month now and haven’t noticed any difference yet.  I do have to keep in mind though, I feel like I’m still recovering from my recent trips to Argentina and then Colorado almost immediately after.  That probably makes it the perfect time for me to be drinking hydrogen rich water.  However, I’m much more interested in the longer-term effects of using an Echo Flask and how it might help improve my athletic performance, recovery, sleep, immunity and overall digestive health.  I also found this article interesting about hydrogen water and altitude sickness.

Beyond that, I might have some feedback about the product itself and how it consumes the battery.  I’ve noticed it down 1 bar after a single 10-minute cycle but can get 5 cycles when only 1 bar remains.  Seems a bit backwards from what you might expect?  I know that my caught attention right away!

I had high hopes of doing some hiking during a recent trip to O`ahu.  Unfortunately, a lower leg injury from a Summer Hockey League playoff game last month left me hobbling around just enough to make the trip, but not much else.

This is what I was hoping to explore while spending 10 days on O`ahu for the first time.  I also knew I wouldn`t get to all of them in one trip — especially with other things we wanted to do — so here they are in order of priority:

- Backway for the Stairway to Heaven (Haiku Stairs)
- Three Peaks (Mt. Olomana)
- Reverse Olomana Trail
- Makapu`u Lighthouse Trail
- Koko Crater Stairs
- Koko Crater Rim Trail
- Diamond Head Crater Trail
- Old Pali Highway
- Mt. Ka`ala (tallest peak on O`ahu)
- Pūpūkea to La`ie

Maybe next time...

Six months ago today, I stood on top of the tallest peak in the Americas — Aconcagua, Argentina — and it has taken me that long to finish a series of posts about my epic adventure!

This day-by-day trip report is packed with photos, route descriptions, and insights from my own experience.  You’ll find everything from what to pack, to what the camps are really like, to why I think the 360° Traverse is the ideal choice.

👉 Lnk in bio!

Whether it’s your first high-altitude climb or you’re adding Aconcagua to your mountaineering resume, the 360° Traverse offers one of the most satisfying ways to stand on the highest point in South America.

My 13th time on this summit, but 1st to enjoy some watermelon at the top 🍉 Thanks to Jocelyn, the "Watermelon Girl", who lugged that all the way up and was gracious enough to share it 😁

Veered right a bit of the South saddle (red line) for a more adventurous route up to Timp... but once we got up on the ridge, we saw we could have done an even more interesting way (yellow line) cutting into that cliff band and zigzagging along the shelves as seen in the 4th picture (taken from South Timp).

For those interested in doing Deseret Peak... the snow is still in the couloirs, but only for a little while longer!
